STÉPHANIE MICHAUD
PRESIDENT AND CEO, BIOCANRX
Stéphanie Michaud brings over 20 years of public, government and private sector experience in research, science, technology and innovation (STI) policy and program delivery. She strives to create partnerships between government, not-for-profits, academia and industry to maximize the impact of research funded by BioCanRx on the lives of those affected by cancer. This includes the creation of new opportunities to include the patient voice as equal partners in the BioCanRx research program by working with patient groups and cancer charities to inform these activities and the research program. She is a foundational member of the Colorectal Cancer Canada PACT (Patient-Centered Approach to Clinical Trials) initiative, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) inaugural Community of Practice on Patient Engagement in Cancer Research Steering Committee, Save Your Skin Foundation Stakeholder Engagement committee and BioCanRx representative to the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer Canadian Cancer Research Alliance.
Dr. Michaud earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from McGill University and worked as a synthetic organic chemist for several years within a university spinout at the beginning of her career, resulting in several patents. She currently serves on the Board of Research Canada, also serving as Chair of the Leadership in Advocacy Committee and is a past Director to the Board of the StemCell Network. She is a past alumna of both the Governor General’s Leadership Conference (2015) and inaugural Centre for Drug Research and Development (now adMare) Executive Institute in 2018. She is a current mentor for the McGill NSERC CREATE ‘Women in Science’ One-on-One Mentoring Program and a past mentor to multiple individuals and staff members, including the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research Rising Stars mentorship program.
